A delegation of Business Leaders from Pohang visited Connekt and the Smart Mobility Embassy on Monday October 22. With 500.000 inhabitants, Pohang is the largest city of South Korea. The visit to Delft was part of their two-day program to The Netherlands.
The program of their study trip was focused primarily on smart city infrastructure, automated vehicles and sustainable traffic. In the morning the group visited 2getthere‘s autonomous ParkShuttle in the city of Capelle aan den IJssel guided by Mr. Wessel van der Pol, Engineer at 2getthere.
During the visit examples of smart mobility that have been tested and deployed in the Netherlands were provided and knowledge was exchanged on how these projects were aligned with all stakeholders involved. The way we collaborate between public- and private organizations in the Netherlands is remarkable. Connekt has played a huge role in putting automated driving on the governmental agenda in 2013/2014.
One of the main challenges we face in the Netherlands is the lack of space. Since we are such a small and densely populated country we have to use this space in a clever way. This is one of the reasons we invest in smart mobility solutions, simply because we have the urgency to do so. Looking for more information about automated driving? Visit the online Knowledge Agenda.
The delegation was hosted by Marije de Vreeze, Manager of ITS Netherlands at Connekt and José Oudijk of the Smart Mobility Embassy.
